I'm not terribly defeatist about the situation in Iraq. I must admit being defeatist about American public opinion (to say nothing of the UK). It is going to take a miracle of public releations for the Bush administration to convince the public that we have both a moral obligation and a strategic necessity to stay in Iraq. Unfortuanly, official PR folks never seem to state things as clearly as you do.
