Stupid Quote of the Day

“You know, education, if you make the most of it, if you study hard and you do your homework, and you make an effort to be smart, uh, you, you can do well. If you don’t, you get stuck in Iraq.” -- John Kerry, 2006.10.30

I wish some Vietnamese bastard had better aim--at least he wouldn't have had to give himself Purple Hearts for his papercuts.

This is why I subtitled Election 2004 as "So It Has Come To This." He's a career politician and he hasn't yet learned how not to say dumb shit? Come on...

And Democrats wonder why they fair so poorly among the military and retired military voters.

I think Kerry is sort of stuck in ther VN era here. In those days what he said was literally true. Like most Senators, he doesn't live in the real world - probably forgot that we now have an all volunteer Army.
While you may dislike him, I think his PHs were all awarded legitimately as were his other medals. He wasn't a paper-pusher and he did volunteer, unlike most of his classmates.

We dodged a bullet in 2004, didn't we?

From the MSNBC website:

What his spokesperson, Amy Brundage, said Kerry’s prepared text called for him to say: “Do you know where you end up if you don’t study, if you aren’t smart, if you’re intellectually lazy? You end up getting us stuck in a war in Iraq. Just ask President Bush.”

Surely, he didn't mean to say what he said. Too bad he didn't listen to the words that were coming out of his own mouth.

I don't hate Kerry or anyone else in this world. I pity the man, I really do. I pity everyone who thinks like he does--every one who demonstrates an attitude such as he does.

Not really, Zoe. There were two bullets and we were stuck with one of them.

I laughed at his apology. (my paraphrase) "I'm sorry you guys made a mistake and misunderstood my comments."

He did put his foot in it, so to speak.

It is good to see you well, Mr. Atkinson. Take care man and stay safe.
